MCF Academy Administrators

Sister Mary Leonora Tucker, SSND, after a dedicated career serving Catholic schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Liberia, and Ghana, will be administrator of the MCF Academy. Prior to the outbreak of the civil war in Liberia, she worked as a teacher trainer and as coordinator of all the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Cape Palmas. When it was no longer safe to remain in Liberia, she joined the School Sisters of Notre Dame ministering in Ghana and worked with the Liberian refugees in Buduburam. She provided counseling, obtained financial assistance for students to attend boarding schools, and served as liaison with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees).

Sister Leonora holds a bachelor's degree in education from Seton Hall University and a master's degree in education and administration/supervision from Fairfield University. At the MCF Academy, her responsibilities will include overseeing the building project, school finances, hiring of personnel, development of curriculum and of policies and procedures, and the scheduling of classes and activities.

 

Michelle Quinn will be assistant administrator of the MCF Academy. Her background includes a teaching career that took her as far away as Puerto Rico, where she taught English and French and headed the Guidance Department, and brought her as close to home as the Academy of the Holy Angels in New Jersey and The Katharine Gibbs School in Connecticut. She also managed the Office of the President at Sacred Heart University as well as tutored and served on the Board of Directors of a non-denominational education center for immigrant women in Connecticut.

Michelle received a bachelor's degree in French and education from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, a master's degree in French language and literature from Laval University in Quebec, and a master's of science degree in education from Iona College in New York. At the MCF Academy, she will focus on communications and on assisting with all administrative responsibilities.
